Let’s Slip Into A Rêverie, Shall We?

I have a dream…

Someday, I want to be interviewed by a famous (and hilarious AF) TV show host (Fallon or Ellen will do), who asks me all about the phenomenal work I’ve done in my life. I want to be the guest with all the wit and sarcasm, the self-depricating humor and anecdotes that blow people’s minds away.

But who am I kidding?

That’s going to take some time, right? So how about we skip the boring ‘Welcome to my blog’ post and indulge in my interview fantasy, please?

What the hell, humor me.

Welcome to my not-so-humble blog!

Interviewer: ‘Not-so-humble’, eh? Isn’t that a bit lofty?

Me: Haha! I’ve always been a proud writer. Proud, not in the sense that my works are flawless. Proud, because I think there is no other pursuit more satisfying yet more frustrating than writing. Maybe, perhaps, reading.

Interviewer: So, ‘Reveries of an Imagination Junkie’! It’s quite a mouthful!

Me: It is, isn’t it? I gave a lot of thought to the name of my blog. I consider my hyperactive imagination to be my most important asset as a writer, even as a human being. Blame the Piscean, I daresay. The word ‘reverie’ appealed to me, since I do tend to daydream a lot. The French usage of the word is just a salute to my love for all things French.

Interviewer: But isn’t blogging just so passé? Everyone’s doing it, done it…

Me: I know what you mean. I started blogging when it had already been done to death and long-form content was dying. But I realised that if I wanted to put myself out there, there was no better medium. It could be the start of something big!

Interviewer: That’s the spirit! Care to tell us where your ‘reveries’ will take us?

Me: Oh everywhere, I hope! I love talking about books, TV shows, movies, food, current events, social media, love, relationships, phew! Trust me, I’ve a lot to talk about. You’ll never be bored.

Interviewer: That sounds promising! But your readers have been jilted before. There’s been a history of Irregular blog posts and long absences. What do you have to say in your defence?

Me: Guilty as charged. I won’t deny any of it. Every artist needs a muse. But sometimes, you get too involved with your muse and it messes with your art. You get lazy. Books, movies, TV shows inspire me, but they are a helluva distraction. Particularly at the end of a tiring day at work when all you want to do is give yourself to an episode of your favourite show. But now that I don’t have a full-time job, this baby’s going to get a lot of TLC!

Interviewer: We’ll hold you to that! What’s your take on feedback?

Me: Just give me a chance. Read me. If you like my work, tell me. If you have suggestions, definitely tell me. If you hate my work, sorry, I got no tolerance for haters.

Interviewer: This has been enlightening! Any parting words for your readers?

Me: Words have a seductive power and I plan to exploit it all to win you over. Let’s slip into something more comfortable while we do that.
